I would understand if the GBC screen was shit, but it isn't. I would even understand if the GBC had some unique design, but handheld clone consoles with the same layout as a game boy are a dime a dozen. What's the point of taking something unique and making it generic?

We're talking about Game Boy games here, a console that's piss-easy to emulate. If you're playing on real hardware these days, you're beyond the "dude we're just playing games don't worry about anything else" stuff.
