And why put it within the solar ray they've been working on? They just found the Rose last episode didn't they? And they suddenly decide to modify the solar ray with it? Or did they have the Rose previously before the Granada incident?

I'm really enjoying this, though. I loved the animation when they dove down after the Big Zams in the surprise attack.
