It will never not be funny that Fire Emblem was circling the drain for the entirety of the 2000s and it took until the 3DS for them to say "yeah if this doesn't sell a few hundred thousand we're gonna put it to bed"
And then literally one game post-Three Houses has a weaker opening, Engage's sales drop off a cliff after hitting the 1.6 million mark in its opening quarter. Nintendo got spooked even though every pre-Awakening Fire Emblem would've killed to have sold 1.6M, and immediately fast-tracked Fire Emblem Four Houses complete with Sothis as the stinger just to drive the fucking pandering home.

It's not his design that gets me but I feel the other three focus characters are infinitely more interesting and that it feels more like IntSys going through the motions with generic shonen lead with mysterious power. I feel like this is going to be its weak link down the line if they don't pull off the banishing act.
Meanwhile the other main characters given extensive focus
>mysterious sword fighter wielding what's very obviously a crest weapon and basically classic FE edgy swordsman finally given a spotlight for once
>spear-wielding woman in tribal garb with the noble class
>hunter with a vendetta who can summon beasts and things with song
It feels like a similar train of thought to Engage trying to nostalgiabait Roy and the like to people that give absolutely zero shits about any Fire Emblem before Awakening.
