ASIC mining is more secure, that's why ETC was sucessfully 51%'d (3000 block reorg) and considered switching to RandomX. It would be better to change Monero so that you can't mine it with hardware that everyone already has, and instead need to pay lots of money for special equipment that is expensive, power hungry, requires special setup, is easy to track, and comes from a very limited number of suppliers. I love Monero like my fellow longtime privacy enthusiasts which is why I have these opinions.
