Konami just needs to make a good DUDE.
It flopped because conceptually Konami took a good idea and made it retarded
The good
>Product is guaranteed, no randomization at all. You buy the product, you get the cards.
>Product contains a bunch of good staples to get started with the game, like each Ghost Girl, Veiler, Crow, Super Poly etc.
>Product contains brand new alt arts for existing staples, giving a reason for people who already have the cards to buy the product
>Product comes with an accessory
The bad
>Half the cards in the set are pointlessly terrible. Why the fuck were we giving people WIRETAP in 2019? Metaphys Horus? Who fucking designed this?
>The entire product is 1-ofs, meaning to use this as a basis to start your Yugioh journey, you need to spend $120 MSRP just to get playsets of the cards.
>The product itself was $40 MSRP which was far above standard products within the game and above equivalents in other games
>Product comes with AN accessory. They really couldn't have thrown in other shit for people starting off? Dice? A coin? Spell Counters or some shit?
DUDE is clearly meant to be something like a Trainer's Toolkit from Pokemon. An easy to buy product to get yourself a bunch of shit to get started with competitive.
But a Trainer's Toolkit comes with a lot more shit: Booster packs, sleeves, accessories out the wazoo on top of the generic staples, all for a cheaper price.
Legit make a DUDE2 but do the following
>Less different cards, but the cards are in playsets (justifying the higher price point than competitors). Include staples like Mulcharmies
>Include some packs of a recently released set (DUAD in this example, further justifies the higher cost)
>Include some of those shit sticky Konami sleeves they love so much
>Include dice, a coin
>Include a shitty little booklet with barebones deckbuilding tips (If you run 3 you see it more often, if you run 1 you don't see it as often. Run cards you want to see at 3, run cards you don't want to see at 1)
