I'll have to give that a go, then. Sometimes limitations happen when it comes to porting games to handheld systems, so maybe it's not fair to judge based on that. Tempted to give the Super Swing Golf 1+2 Wii ports a go too down the line, since I have those installed on my Wii U.
That said, I actually do like the grounded vibe of Hot Shots, Neo Turf Masters and to a lesser extent, Mario Golf 64 a lot. There's a bit of a balance between mundane slice of life and mild quirkiness that resonates with me a bit more than the more high-fantasy counterparts like later Mario Golf and Pangya. But that's mostly a preference thing.
