When I was in a dark time in my life I 100%ed all of the Hot Shots Golf games from PSP to PS2. I really don't want to touch this series ever again. Theres a fuckload of variables that will absolutely fuck you over once you get good enough at the game and reach the high ranks. Like a ball will just roll off into the water unless you underhit the ball absolutely perfectly. Also theres no reason not to use the best characters in the game because you absolutely need the extra power in the late courses.

This game is as fun as the old games when you're not too poor to afford $40 and when there isn't a redditor screaming in your ear about mismatched unit systems. The only thing I don't like is a lot of the voice acting is irritating as fuck, so I just turned off the voices until I unlock a character/caddy with better voice lines. But it's a good and fun game. I haven't tried online yet but going through all the challenges has been fun enough so far.

Note: I'm still not sure about that, actually, because I've only played for an hour. But there's a review on Steam where the guy says the ball's trajectory in the air is a bit strange, and I agree. It doesn't look like the ball is making a parabola in the air, it kind of seems to descend steadily in a straight line. But that could just be a illusion caused by the camera, or some weird simulation of the ball's spin, wind, etc.

I was disappointed with this game because it makes my GPU fans run at 100%, generating 80 decibels next to my head.
I simply can't play the game at night to avoid disturbing the other people I live with.

Out of curiosity, I ran Easy Come Easy Golf on Ryujinx at 1440p (the same resolution), and the game only loads between 5% and 7% of my GPU, which remains completely silent during gameplay. And the most amazing thing: the graphics aren't even that bad. Despite being clearly simpler, as it's a mobile game, it's arguable that the game looks better than Everybody's Golf in several ways.

i prefer the old ps2 character designs. they were so unique. it sucks everything is starting to look the same nowadays

so when you play online and you mash X through the other player's scenes or are the first one up at the tee, you can be locked on taking your shot and it's hard to tell when you can shoot or not.
I found that you can use the timer in the top right of the screen to know when you can go. as soon as it starts ticking down you're good.

How do you handle hitting out of something like a sand trap? Whenever I go for it, I inevitably hit the hill right in front of me and my shot goes nowhere. Is there a way to scoop under the ball better? And elevation constantly feels hard to judge and fucks up my shots constantly. Still a fun game. Hot Shots Golf is a good series that filled a niche and was fun, it was basic but with a decent skill ceiling, couple fun characters and some cool crossovers.

The framerate was pretty chunky for me on the first course, but the second course has seemed much more stable so far. I think heavy wind, nighttime and weather makes it a lot worse too. I wouldn't say it's unplayable, but I do really hope they can patch it.

CERO becoming stricter since the early 2010s or global pressure to censor all versions are likely to blame.

Additionally, character ages were censored previously. I am uncertain how this latest 8th mainline entry treats it.

Costumes are the rewards for some of the challenge mode tournaments. I think they're always the reward for the second versus match in each set.

what single player content does the game have? I've enjoyed other everybody's golf games across many systems (ps2, psp, vita) but it all blends together. the gameplay is fun but I'd like some unlockables to carry my determination to play with different characters and whatnot

Do you like wagglan? Well it's optional. Besides that, I think Season 2 has more courses than PSP, so probably worth playing if you want more PangYa. Besides the differences already mentioned, there's some content that isn't in Season 2 that's in PSP and vice versa (costumes, rings, instead of the Papel shop you have to win shit with a lottery, you don't need to keep stocking up on balls).
