Be prepared for some growing pains starting out. At the beginning, it's honestly kind of tedious since you're missing critical abilities/mechanics that feel insane to be missing later when you get them. That, and opening a chest for the first time and getting doused with a rainbow of weapons, armor, and consumables, all of which you'll probably sell because they're garbage. Get past all of that though and the games become crazy addicting. It's genuinely one of those games where I'd argue it doesn't "click" until either halfway through, or even once you've beaten it and gone into NG+.

Also, I'd argue Nioh 2 is almost objectively better overall. Nioh 1 is great, but a lot of mechanics Nioh 2 introduces are hard to come back from. That, and being able to create your own character is nice.

If you give it a shot, I hope you enjoy it anon. Even if you entirely ignore the spear (which you shouldn't), all of the weapon types are fucking awesome.
