Will see when I get to actually play with (and against) them, but Paths mechanic is not so weird considering how tri-discipline Anarch cards work.
Sabbat needed a boost, they've been lagging behind in terms of power behind new Anarach and Camarilla stuff. Also V5 means there's no new Antitribu, so clan-specific card for Sabbat (Antitribu) clans are dead end. BUT the old (pathless) Sabbat vampire can adopt a path, meaning the new cards will be usable for old vampires. It should refresh some older archetypes. Paths are compromise between giving everyone some new tools without letting someone use everything at once.

Path of Death and Soul is just further upgrade for the new Oblivion discipline.
but the other three seem decently versatile while having their defined purpose/identity
Power for politics
Caine for combat
Cathari for power-bleed
