with a controller i use the "xbox accessories" program to remap the A button to a Bumper so i can tap the brakes. (you can also manually remap the controller from the UserSettings.json
with m+kb, i have brakes and reverse on the side of the mouse

some cars respond well to holding reverse while your foot is on the gas as you enter a turn
