It doesn't make sense really to pay any attention to how games from here perform. People who do that are usually not making games and are just backseat driving and living vicariously and seething about people who actually did manage to release a game.

Nobody will ever care or say "this wasn't a real demo" and even if they did they would be ignored. Demo comes first now, then you build the full game and a playerbase with the demo as you update it, then you launch without crawling on your belly in obscurity into a flop.
