Young people won't get this, but from 1985-2007 we got genre defining bangers in every genre each year. Dev cycles weren't bloated beyond belief, a game taking 3-4 years was considered abnormally long. Budgets were still low so creativity could shine through. Japanese side of the industry dominated and Western AAA faggotry hadn't taken over.
It was the golden age.
