Why do people think Prometheus and Alien/Aliens take place on the same planet?
They don't.
The Engineer ship in Prometheus has nothing to do with the crashed Engineer ship in Alien/Aliens.
Except, the ship in Alien/Aliens LEFT from LV-223, and crashed on LV-426 nearby.
