35 y/ oldfag here. Just started a Grandia playthrough first time (Saturn). The opening is dreadfully slow. It does the Trails thing where every NPC has new dialogue every time something happens. I usually exhaust dialogue in jrpg's but I might dial it back here because it's killing the pacing for me.

That being said, holy fucking shit @that opening cinematic. Videogames used to be fucking INSPIRED. Call me a fag, but I teared up a little. Just beautiful.

Besides that, I'm wrapping up a playthrough of Herakles no Eikou IV. Not talked about much but it's a lot like Dragon Quest in the best ways. Not just being a turn based old school jrpg, but in terms of the storytelling style and pacing - really scratches the DQ itch.

After clearing Herakles from my backlog I'll probably start Tales of Graces f.
