Morphy cemented the fucking principles as we know them today. Steinitz and all the others used to play romantically, and Morphy liked doing the same but with some finesse. Steinitz started to understand all these "fancy" moves and such and started the whole positional chess due to Morphy and the rest is history. Most of the Morphy's people show are casual games, as he was doing tours and shit, it gets to a point where I hate The Opera game a little. The tournament games are more interesting.
