This is motor functions, sensations and breathing. There are zombies that lack soul and memory but have lifeforce aether.

Granted this more a language vocabulary thing where japanese has more distinctions than english

They use 幽霊 for soul plus memory entities. Which is different than ゴースト(ghost) but the english ghost is more broad.
