Just a random thought, but when you're doing dungeon roulette or considering what jobs to really focus on or "main", how much do you consider their gameplay at low levels? For example, I like that Monk and Picto have a little bit of crunch (for me anyways) at lower levels, so I enjoy playing them more. But by contrast, I find Dragoon and Gunbreaker kinda clunky and boring (imo).

For some added context, I'm really taking about gameplay below level 40ish. Myself, I'm in the middle of Shadowbringers and my highest level jobs are low 80's. At this point, I've played every job at least a little.

I don't think about it much anymore, but I used to avoid blm and whm for lower level stuff. Blm because it used to be annoying to adjust to different rotations at different levels, and whm because it felt weaker than other healers. Blm might still be annoying at lower levels, but I think that stuff has at least been lessened. Instead I went smn because you could always do hit next shiny button and win and rez at all levels is clutch, and I went sch because you at least got, still get I guess, lustrate at a decently early level.

Generally souls' memories are eroded away in the lifestream, but reincarnation reuses them before there's more than a surface level scrub. So the aether remains in the same soul 'shape' so to speak, resulting in them trending toward certain tendencies in personality but being different people. Hence Azem, Ardbert, and (you) being characterized as a well meaning person that is also a bit of a weirdo, while still being different.

Further, some memories can get deeply imprinted into the soul, and partially recalled by the reincarnations. This is how The Echo works. People reincarnated from Ancient souls were scarred by the horrors of the final days, and seeing star showers dredge up the memories along with some splintered versions of soul-magic abilities the Ancients had like being able to connect to others to view their memories.
Memory sealing magic like those employed by Hermes or Sharlayan work by putting a thick layer of aether over top the memories preventing the person from accessing them. Which has the inverse of the desired effect when those people die. The lifestream washes away the layer of aether on top of the memories, but the memory itself remains unscrubbed.

Aside from that new non-reincarnated souls can be freshly formed from regular aether in the lifestream. And old souls can be fully scrubbed away to nothing if they remain in the lifestream deep/long enough, which usually happens by the soul's own choice. Such as Asahi dragging Hermes down as deep as possible. Or Venat using up her entire essencce so thoroughly that she returned to raw aether no longer even in the form of a soul.

Pilgrilm's Traverse has me wishing they'd go back and add checkpoints and matched parties to the other DDs. I've played every single DD from day 1 and i never bothered with the higher difficulty floors before because finding a fixed party and having to reset from the beginning if you ever failed was just so annoying. Make sure everyone’s potting beginning of intermission, it’s a standard pot timing and helps a lot. I’d recommend LB3ing intermission only if something goes wrong — just send it and at least get another P3 rep if someone dies in intermission or gets a DD or if someone’s like omg I’ve been hitting the wrong thing for the last 10 seconds, otherwise saving it for P3 should help you a lot.

The other points you might invuln would be the busters in final phase. Paladin's long cd likely forces you to decide that now. What little I remember all too many years ago (ShB, I believe) the timing on p4 final buster was strict and I preferred to use what CDs I had alongside hallowed to it demand precision on the first hit so deep in, but I suspect this was a decision borne of inexperience and shorter invulns at the time.

If you invuln in p4, you should be able to individually kitchen sink both p3 busters. While I would recommend the latter for multiple reasons (it involves shared hits) none are actually enforced and you can coordinate this as you wish yes.

I want to do Q40 and also progged it a bit, but I'm still unsure which melee I want to play (between those I can play). Ninja applies debuffs, which are useless once I have to swap targets. Samurais DoT isnt working anymore when switching debuff. Monk has no spammable range attack in the case the flares make me disengage until its over, but its buff works on everyone.

I dont know yet how often I have to actual swap for mechanics (besides the first towers), so I think Samurai may be my best option, however Monks buff may yield the higher overall damage.

The best melee would be viper, however based on your classes samurai would be your best bet. Make sure to pay attention to refresh your debuff before applying higanbana and to take the correct one for the upcoming mechanic so you can make the most use out of your dot. Your teammates might need to flex a bit more to balance debuffs for you since you will try to stay on one for as long as possible

The soul, as an ontological object, has soul aether which forms the shell, and memory aether which forms the filling. The soul accordingly contains memory, like a cup holds water. The memory aether can be emptied out (making an empty amnesiac), the soul aether can be replaced (Regulators literally just switch it out superfast so no memory is lost), but the person is both parts, not one or the other.

Hello, all start off by saying. Sorry. If this is the wrong place, I don't usually post on Reddit.

I find Myself struggling to get a hang of keyboard and mouse.. I've been playing on consoles for the better part of 20 years. This is my first time really playing on PC. Much less with keyboard and mouse. Moving, it's not too bad. But mostly the hot bar is just overwhelming. I do have an MMO. Mouse with several buttons on the side, and I thought about possibly programming those to be shift and control. And alt and all that so I don't have to kind of stretch my fingers to hit those well. Also hitting the 1 through 10 or whatever on the keyboard. If anyone has any tips or tricks, I greatly appreciate it, especially if you've gone through this recently. And you know how iam feeling

Side note.: i know I can use controllers, but I don't want to as that to me feels like I'm ruining half the fun of switching to PC..

I recently made the swap in the opposite direction from keyboard and mouse to controller. I still don't feel equally comfortable, but decent enough to do any of the content I'm interested in.

If you have the time, i'll second the idea of making a new character. The biggest thing for me was the lack of muscle memory and needing to rebuild that from scratch. Starting at level 1 and getting things gradually did help a lot, and by picking a job that 1-50 gets most of its core rotation (MNK in my case) I wasn't being blindsided by expansion abilities/traits revamping the whole thing.

End of the day for me it just came down to needing to spend the time to get comfortable with the change in control scheme. I'll also say don't be afraid to move things around/change hotkeys/keybinds for ease of use. I know people who don't stick to just the numbers, and use Q/E/R/F/G/V/etc as well for abilities; it might sound strange but if it's easier for you then no one has to know lol.

It is weird how slow they are to make sensible rewards. Like if this is "Ultimate" tier, then why not allow weapons/glow to come from this. I would imagine alot of people doing this would have less to complain about if they at least offered the same glow aspect like Ultimate raids. Heck take it a step further.

You Clear Quantum, you get to choose a unique glow effect from 1/8 of the Deep Dungeon Weapons that have been released. Variety is the spice of life and variety in rewards is what FFXIV lacks severely, but imagine if you could do Quantum and say you love the design of the 2nd upgrade of the HoH weapon, now you could get a unique glow of it to show off.
