you're just proving my point that primary is a term purely made so people who play the games can somehow pretend they're better
at least change the definition to having LNNs so its actually something to brag about
its so weird that the only condition to be a "primary" is having played the games for a bit, when you'd expect way more elitism from that "shmup mentality"

the games are there to introduce characters/locations/music/etc so fans can actually do something with em
Fanon stuff exists exactly because the official characterisations are like 10 lines of dialogue at most for each, especially for the earlier games
your theory about headcanon doesn't even hold up since the mangas/books have done a bunch of the heavy lifting since they started coming out and even most secondaries read those.

Maybe they just don't care for shmups, not like its a popular genre in the first place
