40 to 60 tanks of propane are consumed by homes alone EACH DAY.
About 350 tanks in the week around Christmas.
Light a match? Gas or an electronic lighter, near your tank? BOOM you are done.
Also, not only are you competing with other fuels, but the entire battery of power systems the state owns. :)
Take all the "propane explosion stories" you can think of in the past 10 years and divide it by the number of customers in that time who have tried (again, 50 tanks a day, 1500 a month) and there's your historical likelihood of "blowing up."
Cables cut, lower CO2 emissions, no need for sunlight, tank recycling, AND to top it all off: Your personal cost decreases over time, so even if you hit this "alternate energy lottery" for one town you'd have to do it all over again in a couple years.
