With what the Hopes and Dreams department of Mikoyan Gurevich or Lavotchkin? They were figuring out how to get a jet airborne without it having to pass through tree timezones first in those days. Name one soviet fighter that could reach a strategically critical target in the mainland US? I mean they could reach Alaska and Canada but that's only an obstacle, not a critical target.
