In terms of pure performance, the Mirage will likely surprise you: you'll find yourself keeping up with most of the aircraft you'll meet. What really hinders it is its sole A2A SPW, the 4AAM.
So, if you have a decent fighter, but a shit SPW and no Data-Link, what do you use? Guns.
The F-16 is in a similar boat, except it doesn't even have good performance. I'd only recommend using it in rooms full of actual bottom of the barrel nuggets. Fly it with the default emblem for maximum effect.

This has pretty much replaced my MiG-35 build, desu. The Gripen offers you solid performance and 6AAM in a very low-cost package. With 6AAM equipped, you can still somehow squeeze under a 2250 Cost limit.
Get out there and give those Fulcrums and Fishbeds a nasty surprise.

If development is going to take this long, I will not settle for Fenrir just being in 8. It must have some story relevance, like a cool enemy squadron using it. Anyway, what time are we gonna get a room going later?

An answer to every room becoming BVR central. The YF-23 has surprisingly good maneuverability, which this build can leverage in case you get tailed by someone who prefers dogfighting.
Anti-stealth isn't a miracle solution, but it's good enough to keep track of someone with a stealth-focused build.

hey I was the buddy flying the TGM SU-57 and the aircraft has a really big flaw and some quirks, bad energy retention and having decent to mediocre handling at 1400 to 600 kph. I only PSM with it to force an overshoot so I can escape and regain energy (it's crazy handling kicks in at +1900kph)
TL;DR the aircraft is highly aggresive but forces you to break away to regain energy a lot

It also notes that the detaining power is prohibited from enacting "outrages upon personal dignity, in particular, humiliating and degrading treatment" onto POWs; whether forcing all of the POWs to wear maid outfits is an outrage upon personal dignity is something up to the Hague to decide, I'm afraid.

Alright, buddy, here goes. It's a seaplane armed with heavy anti-ship missiles (think something in the same weight class as a Granit/Shipwreck, though obviously with a much shorter range since it's the not!50s-Popular-Science) and not!Sea Sparrows (the circles on top are rotating launchers partly inspired by, the rectangles tilt and reveal the missiles), and it's classified as a cruiser in-setting; it's supposed to hunt down heavier ships (either other capital combatants or freighters) and fuck off before they can retaliate (the intended enemy has worse missile tech). I'll refine the front and side views sometime today.

A few science fiction properties like the BSG remake and The Expanse have played with it, and modern space games generally have the option for it. You have tightly controlled and computer-managed flight in what amounts to cruise control, but once combat comes onto the table you're disabling that and engaging in controlled tumbling and spinning and the use of lots and lots of weapons. Corrections, counter-corrections, and weapons that counter-correct to counter the counter-corrections.
I'm currently struggling trying to design some good ships. Sort of divided between styles. Because I'm going for your general light space game craft. Walkable, cargo room, etc. But a key point of frustration is the cockpit. Some people prefer a more open cockpit. Some people prefer a plane-style cockpit with a nose on it. Getting tempted to just create a modular system where people can pick their desired cockpit system and roll with whatever.

I was seeing that Enhanced Gunplay got sort of revived recently, could've never expected something like this though. Finally some good news.

An unbelievable step forward, buddy - perhaps we'll have all the older AC games 'remastered' on 7 with this if all the issues can be ironed out.

Yeah the project was publicly dormant since the release of A4.1. The mod underwent a complete overhaul from the ground up since discovering advances into Bytecode modding. Majority of the time went into the flight model in High Alpha research mechanics and multiplayer support with a rudimentary anti-cheat implemented. I highly suggest you to bring a few friends into a private multiplayer match to see where the majority of the development time went into.

>>537893781

We had a lot of talk going on about how far we can go with this, however there are still some roadblocks needed to be overcome.

Yeah the Ace Combat modding communities, specially in Discord have been pretty fragmented from recent events. Thankfully I run my own private server that is purely focused in Research & Development that keeps modding progression away from drama and modder witch hunting by vanilla purist run communities. I am a strong critic towards knowledge gatekeeping, the game is technically End-Of-Life so any attempts at reverse engineering and development shouldn't be looked down upon as many of us who are working towards this only wants the game to last longer in terms of replay-ability and expressing creativity. Thankfully gathering the right people with the technical know how has made this possible, if not I personally would have lost interest in modding the game and moved on in life.

Considering my age, I consider Ace Combat 7 to be the final game to be invested in I will continue to mod as a hobby. Achieving mission modding was my ultimate goal and magnum opus, I have to still be around when people are now given the opportunity to write their own stories and campaigns when research documentation is completed. My passion for arcade flying games has always been the driving factor. Enhanced Gunplay was originally designed with inspirations from bullet hell games and with this new domain opens many more opportunities for custom boss battles more intense than we can ever get from the base game.

>However long you decide to keep working on this, you've got my full appreciation for keeping this alive. Would you post your findings on mission building & modifying to a wiki or another public repository once you have everything complied and annotated?

Rest assured I am directly in touch with the modding wiki crew. I have no reason to keep this information to myself as that would defeat the purpose of this research, we're all crossing this bridge together.

Unfortunately a major AC7 modding discord server got deleted and gone along with that was many hundreds of hours worth of modding information and exchanges. The active portion of the modding community migrated to another server however not everyone is aware and are also left out with nowhere to go, leading to more community fragmentation. It happened around the same time I returned to modding AC7 after taking a long break from the internet.

I see a mission with the Alicorn guarded by the entire surface fleet from DLC 2 + the ships from M11 all sitting around a full platform who's flight deck is loaded up with SU-57's while YF-23's are already on CAP in large number.

A major server where a ton of the old modding cabal gathered and posted info imploded, because the head honcho (married with a kid) was sexting members instead of running the server
The remaining "staff" decided that the only way to go on would be to delete the entire server (ostensibly with 24 hours' notice, and then promptly deleted it after 8)

That screenshot still gives me chuckles to this day. That was caused by an FCS volley cooldown typo.

>Appropriate. It's the most impressive and lasting thing the game's community will have.

Honestly I didn't expect things to advance this far. The previous person who abandon the project had run into soft locking issues related to mission completion and among other things. When I showed him I could finish his project test missions, everyone involved exploded with the feeling of accomplishment and relief. Many felt modding the game was starting to get a bit stagnant until this happened.

>I remember absolutely loving Gauntlet Edition Farbanti (even if all the jammers completely tanked my framerate).

I suggest trying the new A5 release, it now supports addon planes mods and includes a ton of fixes compared to the old A4.1 release.

The biggest issue right now is theres a lack of a good working dummied asset library, the current ones I'm using is fairly outdated as mentioned in the article, some pawn features like death animations, turret targeting and some cases AI behavior are not working as expected on spawn or activation. This problem is rooted from the custom GUID hash that Ace Combat 7 uses, which unfortunately will be a pain as cooking new dummied assets would require post editing to correct their generated GUIDs to their expected ones. Without a full working dummied asset library means very little you can add to maps and missions such as AI pawns and map related props and other game actors.

Making a dummied asset library from scratch will take incredible amounts of time, energy and reverse engineering efforts, given how many assets are in use in the game. Creating new original assets shouldn't be a problem when process becomes well documented.
