Prime was a fucking disaster for Hasbro. Prime was meant to be the cornerstone for their planned 'universe', but Roberto Orochi and Alex Kurtzman just wanted to make "bay films the series" and completely fucked up Hasbro's plans for their connected multiverse. High Moon Studios' War For Cybertron game was intended to be a prequel to Prime, however the showrunners instead claimed it wasn't canon to the show and actively wrote stories to contradict the events of the game (even then High Moon attempted to fix things with Fall of Cybertron, but again was snubbed) but then they made the ludicrous claim that Rescue Bots was canon to Prime (even though Rescue Bots was not intended to be connected to Prime).
The centerpiece of this new 'universe' Hasbro had been planning was a book called the 'Binder of Revelation'. It was a lore book that had every piece of relevant lore planned for this continuity that cost 250 grand to produce. It's purpose was to help the creators of the series with projects. The Prime Showrunners tossed it out and never used it. Another "Fuck You" from them to Hasbro.
Speaking of costs, budget was another major issue with Prime. Episodes of Prime constantly went over budget, to the point that some episodes costed 1.5 - 2 million dollars. Prime was such a money hole that Hasbro had to scrap plans for one of the original follow up shows they had planned called 'Unit: E'. All the budget for that show went to Prime to be able to keep costs stable. Even then they were doing all they could to keep the budget down, they axed characters with expensive VAs, they reused models alot, humans started to become clones, the characters wouldn't transform as often (or if they did the transformation would happen off screen) and most infamously 2 clip shows. What also didn't help was the HUB wasn't as much of a success as they were hoping and were losing money there aswell.
