This kinda goes to my point - Linus is a cunt. He even fosters that.. 'image' for want of a better term.
It suits him and his style and as he's found over time - it more often than not gets him the result it requires. True it doesn't garner him much gudwill but he's not here to be begging for warm fuzzies from strangers (let alone colleagues).
But being insincere isn't his shtick and probably wouldn't have got him (& the kernel as a project) to where it is today.
I think most of what he writes is hilarious - not always professional but then his "industry" doesn't really have an hr dept and you can't really get fired.
Have we lost people who may have made a valid contribution because they were too fragile to handle dealing with Linus? Sure. But if they were that delicate they probably weren't meant to be there anyway - the path to getting shit done is littered with people who couldn't hack it.
