It takes a lot of research and development to make a VERY appealing design, shit's got to be:
-Easy to draw and have an appealing color palette
-Have a distinct appealing silhouette you can recognize anywhere, even at its most plagiarizing knockoff level
-Be featured in a genuine and sincerely positive way across different media and not just vidya only
-Be persistent and everlasting that 20 years later, shit's still as nice today as it was back then.
-Be part of a millenial's childhood coz god damn if the power of the individual perma-autistic and extremely determined and dedicated artist isn't strong enough sometimes (Example, there was a single fucking artist that, for a VERY LONG TIME, was the only guy drawing Seiken Densetsu 3 fanart before the Trials of Mana remake came out)

Gardevoir more or less clears all of these boxes and more, i think PMD Rescue Team is 100% the reason Gardevoir stuck on people's minds given her story arc in that game.
