it's based on a rifle chambered in 20mm hispano, napkin math says you can expect a muzzle energy of ~3100 ft-lbs with an armor-piercing bullet.

I'd say there's a 50% chance that one of the dumb books goes into autistic detail about the projectile, so that's another avenue of investigation.
