Empire of Dust tells an engaging story while offering interesting insights into certain non-Western mentalities. It's a bit of a slow burn but it serves the setting and plot: the Tired Chinaman becomes even more tired than previously thought possible while he tries to bleed productivity from Congolese stone for the film's duration. If you're looking to spending time on a movie it's a good one to choose.
