if i were gonna move back to pittsburgh, which is tempting, greenfield is probably where i'd go. rent is as low as it gets yet it's a nice neighborhood area, mostly just old people in little houses, and it's really close to squirrel hill, the college area on forbes, and south side flats, all of which are good areas to work in cafes, and it's on the 61 bus route which is quite busy and goes to downtown at one end and a big mall on the other end, so it can take you to a lot of job possibilities as well. there's also the 58 bus which is basically a roller coaster ride as it goes around such tight corners on tiny hilly streets, very fun.
its also right next to schenley park as you can see, which is a mostly forest area that's awesome to walk around, it has a lot of secret spots to explore and find as well...there's even a "fruit loop" where guys meet and fuck at night. thats not an urban legend -- if you drive through at 1 or 2 am, you catch them in the woods with your headlights, their eyes flashing like deer.
