Everybody hated /b/ back then, the same way everybody hates /pol/ now. What /b/ did was not representative of what the site as a whole felt, and that especially went for political campaigning and stirring shit up IRL.

I can't find the image anymore, but in moot very specifically said /pol/ should stay inside /pol/ and would get axed if things escalated again. Sadly GamerGate happened and moot never fulfilled his promise of deleting /pol/.
