PPG was already dark for kids but NOT in the romanticized way of Gekiga style anime like Tatsunoko kids dramas like Honeybee hutch and even the original Saint Seiya, but rather in the opposite route, it was an Edgetard punk show for kids where the whole point is that 3 cute little girls are violent and beat up monsters and supervillains in needlessly violent ways, and yes, the whole show was a "NOT LIKE THOSE KIDS SHOWS" type of show, it was supposed to be a crass comedy, snarky, sarcastic, with some GOTCHA/nnNNNOOOT type of humor, and yes, mean spirited.

Hence why the whole show felt cynical and obnoxiously crass for the sake of pushing the envelope on kids shows, it was just a slightly kid friendly version of South Park without the swearing and full graphic violence, they made fun of morals, they made fun of wholesome, all the characters even the girls are mean jerkoffs.

But then this movie comes off and has an identity crisis, trying to be a bit more serious in it's depiction of heroism while still having that crass tone of the show, it didn't work.

Then the post movie seasons were just Savino making his own weird comedy show with the PPG characters, it sucked.

Then Toei made their own silly cutesy Magical Girl that wasn't Precure Slop that came and went and was much more kiddified because this was post 97 Toei, ever since they sand off the edge of their shows and adaptations after Jigoku Sensei Nube and became just BanDai's toy show makers, and it sucked, then got dubbed in English by Can00ks with the same tired old localization excuse, it sucked even more.

Then that weird stylized CGI special happened, it sucked.

And 2016 PPG happened! Nuff said.

Look I still don't like the clown episode ending and I am still not a big fan of HA ha type of comedy after so many MCU and Wheadonisms and Gunn's Douchebags of the Galaxy type of writing and everyone making fun of real wholesomeness and trying to be Ren and Stimpy, but I understood ppg.

And speaking of "theater vs porn actors", yes is me still >>150120544, another PERFECT example, is Castlevania Symphony of the Night, like one of my favorite PS1 game, next to Tomba.

Neither of its English dubs is accurate to Japan's original script, and the 1st dubhas the baggage of being done using a poorly translated script by the japanese who apparently didn't even did it by themselves but by using Chinese middleman, (for real that was actually a practice back then) who were half following the japanese script but barely understood and half making shit up, hence we got "Die Monster, You don't belong in this World", "Darkling I smell on your blood, could it be?" And "What is a man?, A miserable little pile of Secrets!", those were obviously badly translated English with made up shit, but it got actual good actors who were theater actors and did the best they could, given their weird circumstances, cause at least these were AMERICAN actors who could, you know, ACT, and speak good English, but still limited and force to read from a badly translated English Script, without any input from their part of any "Hey, Are you sure this is properly translated? Type of suggestion, yet the voices at least sound decent enough, and hey, it was still a step above Capcom's "let's just do the dub here in Japan which whoever Caucasian looking guys that could speak English we could find, to read or badly translated Japanese to Chinglish script" case in point, MegaMan's 8 and X4, and of course RE1 (the original), then Capcom would switch to letting Americans rewrite their scripts and do the voice acting in American from RE2 onwards.

Then you have the PSP redub of SotN which Konami has been using ever since, they promote the living shit out of this thing as an accurate retranslation of the original japanese script, guess what? iT WASNT, just the old English Script rewritten in actual non Chinglish or Japanese English, but with more made up bullshit! And worse voices.

Luckily I feel like the show has kinda been forgotten about. Another season came out this year and no one even talked about it.
