There is no player agency in the game outside of the ERP scene, the world is pretty much void of content, there is no real economy, and there is no driving force to keep people playing long term other than to collect transmog for ERP.

The ERP scene will continue to stick around, but as a game it was never good and now that the story is over its finished and Dawntrail shows that the game has entered its Team B life support phase and will start to decline like WOW did after WOTLK.

And honestly, good riddence, we can stop pretending that FFXIV was a good MMO, it was just trinity groundfire dogshit with less world design than fucking 1999 everquest, how fucking embarrassing.

Without the story, you're left with vasaline smear spell effects, ground fire dodging 'combat', shit tier world design with linear NPC larp 'quests' and repetitive as fuck watered down WOW style dungeon farm 'end game'

Yoshi-P is a fucking hack and so is everyone at CBU3, one only has to look at their other game FFXVI, which was a colossal fuckup in every way except the music, how you get the guy who does DMC combat to make your combat system and you still manage to fuck it up and make it into "spam eikon spells on cooldown", while also stripping out every single RPG mechanic possible, like how the flying fuck do you suck at making action RPG combat when squeenix already had fucking Kingdom Hearts 2 on the fucking PS2 and FF7R right next door
