It's definitely a retcon. The way that whole update is structured is framed around that being the joke. Karkat is like "the old story is good but there's a few things I would change" to which Callie is like "yeah but don't you think retcons are a bit cheap and uprofessional" and then immediately Jane and Jake show up. Like haha you lampshaded it so now it's okay (i'm personally okay with it). But the way Jasprose is written in the Vriska VN (and the patreon commentary) says that her plan is to fix Jane and send her to the meat ship. But if this is in fact still Pre-Retcon Jane then that makes things confusing. Maybe it's not Pre-Retcon Jane and Catnapped ALWAYS only happened in Pre-Retcon Meat. But I find that... unlikely idk
