I don't really blame Maro. He has mentally checked out long ago. It's just a job now, but he used to be passionate. He's been involved in WotC in one form or another for longer than most anons' lives. He was there during the golden years. His design articles from the early '00s were awesome and those writings described the exact opposite of what this game has became. Now he's the public face for whatever bs Hasbro has decided to do. Most people would do the same in his position, he's ten years away from retirement anyway.
