This is the only 2-drop in recent history (outside maybe Springheart Nantuko) that stands out to me, though it more just makes me wish they would go all-in on a fossil-themed set. It's really bizarre that they would do all the different pop culture clichés with their own unique planes, and yet Lost Caverns of Ixalan is the closest they've ever come to a paleontology-themed set.

This is a massive mistake that A.I. is common for, something a shit or lazy artist might miss when touching up a generated image. Very much like how the entire perspective of the picture seems to be curved or the flag being completely nonsensical.

Also, just have to mention:
Fucking SHAME on the art director for not noticing the poor perspective, and demanding it be fixed. Any art director with even the smallest semblance of competence would be on this immediately.

The artist provided an earlier version to show progress and that's still there. AI is notably terrible at actually doing 'progress', so either this was the one it made and the artist touched it up (unlikely) or they used AI to touch this up (also unlikely) or just didn't use AI and fucked up the perspective (more likely).

This is probably the most mechanically interesting card out of SPM so far. Its a good enabler, can help you push through damage and rewards your removal. It also is a slight hoser to self-sacrifice decks for your opponents in a pinch.

The game could do with tighter design, but I think a certain amount of sloppiness is inevitable when you release new sets as frequently as they do and need to create new cards and new mechanics for each of them

Plus, what is most dominant at any one time might not even necessarily be the best deck- bans are not just to rectify design mistakes, they can and should also be used to freshen up the format. Investoids will complain but fuck those niggers.

Tokens are easy if you're sticking with just one type, you can get any cards. One dude at my LGS always used Pokemon cards. Or even use scraps of paper and have them draw pictures.
You're probably not going to be able to find a perfect balance, so don't worry about it too much as long as it's not too bad. Maybe have more than two options if you're really worried about it.

I find it weird that WotC isn't more willing to ban broken cards in standard, let alone UB cards. If I was making the decisions, I'd point out that Vivi is definitely capable of seeing play in other 60-card formats, let alone commander (clearly its intended home). Banning Vivi likely wouldn't cause the price of the card itself to drop more than $10.

Is there a tasteful way to use basics in this frame in your deck without it clashing with the other frames? Trying to keep the lands matching nicely and looking cohesive seems like a difficult task when you have to wrestle with variously nonfoil RL cards, sol lands etc in the original frame, surveil lands in the M15 frame, Urza's Saga in its unique M15 frame, random utility lands from throughout the ages etc.

I love my deck so much.
I'm considering aether vial and rishadan port. My other main deck is dnt so I'm used to those things and I miss them.
I'm also going to try out some of the new cards. Lightstall Inquisitor and Quantum Riddler are both worth a try.

Also Meddling Mage is the best magic card in mtg's history, I haven't updated this yet but it's in the maindeck now.
