>that all anime is fake and gay except the very first one
What. I never said that. Do you think I'm someone else? And no, I don't think that at all.
>AI is just another tool to manipulate those ideas in order to express ourselves in new ways.
Right, and I'm fine with people using AI as a tool to make art. But:
>did you cry about photoshop 35 years ago, saying digital art isn't real art?
No because photoshop is a tool, like AI is. You can't generate images in phtooshop without using other images or the tools inside it though. The problem I have is people rely on AI only without any human skill or intervention being used. And I say that recognizing that there are clearly good AI generated art pieces, and I'm sure that it took that person a lot of time tweaking the AI to get it just right. Based on my limited time using AI generation, getting an actual decent looking AI image takes time and work. And even then, if a person were to touch it up and make it look better, then it would probably be indistinguishable from a non-generated AI image. That is because AI doesn't know exactly what you want, which is why the human has to intervene. The human touch is needed to make art what it is imo. I know you and others will probably disagree, but that is what I think what makes art so appealing.
The problem is the grand majority of people are using AI to generate first draft generated images without any skill or care, flooding the internet with it without any human intervention to improve or refine it. I'm not against using AI as a stool, but it should only be used as a tool and not a crutch imo (which is probably what its used as 99.9999% of the time). AI generation will only get better and smarter, but I think there is something lost when people rely only on AI to make art instead of using their own imagination and skills to create something new. I suspect we have different definitions of 'art', so we may be at an impasse.
