I feel like beat used to be very strong earlier in development and they kept nerfing every aspect of it until the game released. Terrible run attack, terrible charged attack, terrible pogo, terrible slots. The only thing it has going for it is the facetaking against some big enemies the don't fly or jump around everywhere.
