Perhaps but as already previously explained, that is irrelevant. The creator of the character's wishes does not matter to the tale itself. But rather, the creator of the tale. Naoto Ohshima, Karl Bollers, Judy Totoya, and Ken Kinoshita's opinions and thoughts on how the characters should be is divorced from how they are presented by the author. If you're going to take 25YL, in and of itself, as valid, you must do so within the auspice of its auteur's vision.
In the same sense that "Inverse Ninjas VS. The Public Domain"'s creator's intentions matter when assessing his work and use of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit while Walt Disney's does not.
We are talking about purism for the tale, nor purism for the character. These are distinct things. Either we take the tale how the author wished to express it and engage with it on those merits or we throw it out entirely. You cannot argue that "Sonic is Sally's husband" going off 25YL without also acknowledging that "Tails is Amy's husband".
