The one Ive got is from the same time period and has no issues, but obviously it depends on who owned it before you, look for a good seller with lots of reviews and at least a 99% positive ebay profile. Also watch some youtube videos about them, lots of good channels have vids about the pogue, they will explain what to look out for in a good model
