It was a wrong but understandable mistake to make in Darwin's time, but anyone with a shred of honesty today can clearly see that the most "basic" building blocks of life are infinitely complex, they're not universal goo, they are incredibly complex designed pieces that could never happen through abiogensis, which is literal spontaneous generation pseudoscience bullshit, and no lab experiment despite creating unrealistically perfect conditions has ever managed to get 2% of the way there.
