It captured the feeling of some of the best superman comics which I enjoyed; “Whatever happened to truth, justice and the American way”, “All-Star Superman” and generally just a positive, uplifting portrayal. It’s a good film.

It is, unfortunately, a film hampered by James Gunn’s strange camera work, a soundtrack obviously taken from the Christopher Reeve film instead of an original soundtrack, and this film will be let down in future by pathetic follow up stories in the same “universe”.

For a stand alone film, it was a lot of fun. But I generally feel sickened by most superhero films now. But if they can capture that pulp, uplifting feel of films like Dick Tracey, The Phantom, The Rocketeer, Ang Lee’s Hulk and Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, I’ll keep showing up to the kinoplex to watch.
