Ash's story had actual stakes since he was not entitled to win every time and get everything handed to him. This is the real reason people like you dislike Ash. Boring? Uninteresting? Compared to long-running protagonists like Goku, Ash is the better character, as his main flaw—stagnation—ends after the JN series.

I'm sick & tried of you guys using any excuse to downplay Ash when he is actually better than most of the long running protagonist. Goku is a full grown adult with a grandchild yet he often lets his guard down & forgets important thing while Ash is still 10 year old.
