Luckily AI can't replace a lot of blue collar jobs unless chappie style robots are made. Hvac, most welding, ems, firefighting, police, auto/diesel/flight mechanics, etc.

My problem is I got into ems not knowing how shitty it is. I'm not talking the calls, I'm talking management, laws, how patients are sue happy, and low compensation compared to workload. Not only that but it's a crabs in a bucket situation with a lot of your coworkers. I joined the military for school money
>never got it
Got out to attempt a shitty art degree
>too expensive
Decided to go into wildland firefighting and ems. The firefighting is getting better because people are fighting for the same benefits as structure side, but ems is still dogshit because "that's the way it always has been!" And nobody's doing shit because municipal fire stations are taking over call areas instead of private ems, so they'll either go to fire or to another agency that pays a little bit better but only be put on a prn wait list.

Not sure what I want to do. I have a gf, and we've been together for over a year, and idk how she'd do if I left to go do wildland firefighting away from home for weeks or months at a time. It'd be like deploying all over again except the pay isn't untaxed and you can drive home and the area is usually better looking.

I think I'll skip out on trying to work in a Google data center and finish this scifi-fantasy I've written stuff for and see if anyone on Kindle will buy the chapters as it comes out. If enough people like it I could do a kickstarter hardcover printing/signing with concept art. It's a fool's hope but we'll see.
