It's probably because of his experience writing a bloated endless comic strip, but I have NO FUCKING CLUE why Ian felt the need to make every conversation in Frontiers be "character development". You're the goddamn writer, this might be the last time you get the chance to write an entire game, why would you not just write the best versions of the characters? Instead of a series of what come across as mean-spirited snarky critiques of the past 20 years of Sonic writing?
Like ultimately it serves no purpose. Say they let Ian write "Sonic '27". How does the previous game help? It lets Ian write characters like Amy even more out of character and then smarmily say "well in the LAST GAME you could see they were going through character development so they're different now :^)"? This is like a writing choice born of arguing with retards on the internet so long that you become one.
