>Russia's looking for a soft landing to their now cooling war economy. So they may be more receptive than before.
A soft landing isn't possible anymore, it's just not available. If it was available to deescalate the war then that was back in 2022 when the initial offensive failed to deliver a decisive blow against Ukraine.
Since then when the decision was made by Moscow to go all in they are fully committed to the war and will keep fighting with their rapidly atrophying strength.
They can't not pour all their money into their donkey military because that is exactly what they've engineered the Russian economy to do since 2022. To break this link you need some other industry which could plausibly make money which has strong attraction domestically but also abroad with exports. And they don't have that. The only industry which exports anything of significant value is oil/gas and even then that's heavily discounted to two single buyers and that's India and China.
