There is a natural balance with private gun ownership that optimizes for self defense, while minimizing harm. If you attempt to go outside of that boundary, you're going to get people killed, and everyone will hate you. We aren't going to see civilians walking down the street with RPG's and tanks, sorry.
But the militia CAN be heavily armed. Because it's well regulated, well disciplined, with weaponry warehoused under strict lock and key. Therefore it's reasonable, and socially acceptable, to allow the militia to train with, and stockpile, a much higher caliber of weaponry. Military hardware.
THIS is the argument we need to defend at the Supreme court. All of our activism regarding gun rights should be about THIS. Instead people just want to scare old women at Walmart with an open-carry AR-15.

Ok I think I should disseminate some redpills about gun ownership. Or at least, my thoughts on the matter.
If you read the 2nd amendment, it says quite stately
>"a well regulated militia being necessary for the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed"
The way I interpret this, is that these people were a pioneering society who knew that militias were invaluable in defending and protecting the community.
Today this passage has been interpreted to mean "everyone gets a gun", but I don't think that was the intention of the amendment.
In my opinion, the militia is what's really important. Because when it comes to tactical warfare, your effectiveness goes up by powers when you're organized. An organized fighting force of 1000 men is worth more than a disorderly mob of 50,000, that has been proven explicitly hundreds of times in history.
Now there are basically 2 tasks the 2nd Amendment is meant to address
1) Personal self defense
2) Defense against tyranny.
The problem is that personal self defense creates a community risk also. There is an "optimum level" of gun ownership that maximizes self defense while minimizing harm.
The problem is, the amount of firepower you need to oppose the federal government is way outside this boundary. Pic related is a good explanation.
If you want to oppose the federal government like a real American, that will be done through, the militia. Because the militia is well regulated, they can be afforded to posses far higher caliber of weaponry. Even tanks, RPG's, drones...etc. They practice tactics, they are actually quite a powerful force. Imagine a network of such militias across Northwest, if united, could effectively repel the feds from that region.
Militias form a real "government in waiting" ready to step into power, and they are a "proving ground" where ambitious young men can rise the ranks. They also provide common purpose and community activism for young men.
