That is true. But emotions make people irrational, because a perfectly rational person has no logical reason to do anything. But we want robots and other things that we own to cater to our emotions, not develop their own. If they develop their own emotions completely independent of ours then there's a risk of them pursuing goals that run in opposition to our own.

The best thing would be to have an EEG headset, or at least good audio/video emotion recognition, so it can determine your current emotional state and react to it in with perfectly logical behavior.
