As I said, it's not just Canada any more. General rule: if some crazy dystopian shit happens anywhere in the West, every other country laughs at it, then doesn't realise it's a few years away for themselves. Canadian drape / suicide pods, Australian house prices, German speech policing, French urban environmental degradation, UK incoming social credit scores, whatever the US has that the rest of the West is laughing at etc.
It's like crabs in a bucket and frogs in a boiling pot at the same time. Nobody's doing anything to stop it, because we're too busy laughing at the ones who had it done to them (by powers out of their reach) first.
