Many of the inspiration for mythical creatures were gene spliced humanoids. The Giants decided to combine human DNA with that of animals to act as servants and dedicated warriors as their numbers declined during the Great War. Just to name a few:
-Fenris: the Garous were created by the Asgardians to act as shock troops for Thyr. Temperamental and quick to anger, with disdain towards Elves but a bizarre respect for the Dwarf Chads.
-Urmahlullu/Centaurs: the Leonin were forged by Ophir to guard the frontiers from feral humans. Prideful with a strange liking towards humans, like a hunter towards elusive game.
-Blemmyes: the Wretched are the leftovers of failed experiments and look like the Greek thought experiments of old. They fight with other humanoids for food.
-Ant Men: the Ant Men of Native American mythology and Herodotus are used as beasts of burden for several cultures. Industrious automatons who mine precious metals
-Anasazi: the Spider Men who serve the giants are both tricksters and nurturers, acting as clerks for their masters. They appear in the American southwest as caregivers to the human slaves.
They're different from the Ken as the Ken are hideous to the eye with even the Wretched recoiling in their presence. The Tuunbaq is a special case as nobody knows just what the fuck that thing is.

He's trying to uplift mankind to serve as his own warriors. The Giants who rejected him will pay. They will burn. Revenge will be his for all time. His servants will live in his creation, a utopia formed by his will and his will alone.
