Yes, there are 2 reasons
1: not being allowed to be toxic. Competing with each other is about dominating your opponent. If you are not allowed to even sneeze without a chat ban, there is literally no point in playing these games. I remember installing league of legends again after a few years, just to see how it has developed. I got chat restricted for a week for saying that something is retarded, not even directed at anyone. I immediately uninstalled it and never looked back
2: Bots, augmentation and cheats. At some point people who play normally will have no chance, no matter how hard they try to improve. Once shit like neural chips in your brain become more mainstream, you either have one or you stop playing pvp games
