For whatever reason whenever YT shits out one of these "updates" its always disproportionally effects EN vtubers. I can only assume it's cause YT's pajeetcode can't detect non-english channels
The ONLY time I remember a hard cull unilaterally effect everyone was around December of 2021 when several big name Holos/Nijis suddenly became like 10-12k CCV streamers, the mid-tier ones became 1-6k, HoloX was in their debut month and they suddenly started averaging like 2k~ for a stream
Shit was crazy, but enough JP streamers complained and got YT to roll it back

Hate is an extreme thing to say but I'm also not comfortable with it. Even though I understand objectively that leaving your job for a better opportunity is a normal thing that people in all kinds of fields do so vtubers shouldn't be an exception, as a consumer of the final product which is the stream or other content, I don't appreciate the change. A vtuber isn't just the person behind the model, it's the whole ensemble from the person to the model to the environment and even the restrictions they work within which shape their behavior. A reincarnation changes all but one element and I find it difficult to follow along with the same feeling.
