>well in that I disagree, I put the same value on cosmetics earned through "merit" as I do with cosmetics earned in battlepasses with deadlines
because you don't have the mindset in you to get better at a game and being able to enjoy the progress of your growth, you simply exist to log in, press the button on the screen for your rewards like the investors want. i played one such game for hundreds of hours and never once bothered triggering the reward mechanism for retards who click their screen because their inherent worthlessness
>both are grinds and timesinks and I do both despite there being an objetively more productive thing I can do with my time
if you assign a value of productivity to any activity that is inherently meant to be a recreational task then the whole discussion becomes moot. its true that gaming as a hobby is one of the lowest forms of recreation and feeds off the animal brain instincts, but your brain should still realize that behind the base reward mechanisms in any fps is a game of skill, where the inherent reward motivator should be getting better at it. you and all the zoomercattle have somehow managed to disconnect this game of skill from the reward mechanism and replaced it with a skinner's box instead. this is why you'll never understand the difference. and why i'll never understand this mentality beyond the superficial notions that it brings to mind, ie. growing up in a culture of babying the playerbase, diminishing the effects of player skill, and masking bad results.
